Saxophone artist Noa Mick brings a fresh and unique sound to the contemporary music world. Using interdisciplinary collaborations with video artists and sound engineers, theater, dance, innovative concepts and leading composers, she presents new interpretations to contemporary music in her way.
Being a musical entrepreneur, Noa founded several ensembles, including Duo Alto (saxophone-flute) and Henri Selmer Paris Artist, Ensemble du Bout du Monde (saxophone quartet). Noa has collaborated with world class composers such as George Aperghis, François Rossé, Robert Lemay, Paul Mefano, and Carlos Graezer, and is also currently working with young and upcoming composers such as Yair Klartag, Sivan Eldar, Sina Fallahzadeh, and Daniel Cabanzo, graduates of the IRCAM center.
Over the past several years, as a part of her chamber music and soloist work, Noa was invited to perform in Tzlil Meudcan festival (Tel-Aviv, Israel), Linea Ensemble’s summer academy (Strasbourg, France), Schwetzingen Festival (Schwetzingen, Germany), Sound Plasma Festival (Tallinn, Estonia), Kuraia Festival (Bilbao, Spain), Musik21 (Hannover, Germany) and most recently a guest artist, both soloist and ensemble member, at the CEME academy festival of Meitar Ensemble (Tel-Aviv, Israel) collaborating with composer Franck Bedrossian and conductor Pierre-André Valade. Noa is currently collaborating with French composer, Jean-Pierre Drouet.
Among her awards, Noa received First Prize at the Schlusskonzert competition (Basel, Switzerland) and will perform with the Basel Chamber Orchestra in June 2019. She was also the winner of the Sorbonne Young Soloists competition (Paris, France), received Second Prize at the Hugo competition (Feldkirch, Austria) and First Prize as well as the Best Interpretation Prize at the Concours d’Interprétation de la Ville de Boulogne-Billancourt for her performance with Ensemble du Bout du Monde (Boulogne-Billancourt, France).
Noa obtained her bachelor’s degree at the Le Pôlesupérieur d’Enseignement Artistique in Boulogne-Billancourt conservatory and the Sorbonne University in Paris and her Master of Performance at the Hochschule fuer Musik, Musik Akademie Basel. She is currently finishing her Pedagogy Master’s degree at the academy. Her primary teachers have been Jean-Michel Goury, Pierre-Stéphane Meugé, and Marcus Weiss.
